Saint Ann by the Sea and Our Lady of the Assumption Collaborative 

Dear Brothers and Sisters, 

Thank you for the warm welcome you have given me as your new pastor. It is a privilege to pray with you, and to work alongside you to serve the spiritual and practical needs of our parishes.  There are many challenges ahead, but I am daily strengthened by the prayers of our patron saints, the Blessed Mother and St. Ann, and encouraged by your support.   

Your Generosity Made a Real Difference 

Over recent years, each time you were asked to increase your offertory, you answered generously, even when the requests came close together. Because of you, our operating position moved from a deficit to a surplus over the summer. I am deeply grateful to every individual and family who gave. 

The Challenge We Still Face 

Our work is not finished. The fiscal year that ended in June closed with a substantial loss, driven largely by the cost of snow removal after last winter’s record-breaking storm. Keeping our churches safely accessible is essential, but those unexpected costs strained our finances. Moving from two priests to one has helped, but it has meant a reduced Mass schedule. We now need a stronger, more sustainable foundation. 

Repairs We Can No Longer Postpone 

Both parishes have maintenance needs that cannot wait, and we must also be ready for another winter. 

• Saint Ann by the Sea: Working with our Building Committee and the Archdiocese, we are moving ahead with interior and exterior repairs before they become more costly. The first projects begin before the end of this year.  The church building must be safely enveloped and repainted first. 
• Our Lady of the Assumption: Significant roof and parking lot repairs are needed, but we must first build the financial resources to begin even the most essential work. 

Our Commitment to You 

You deserve to know that your gift is valued and well used. I am committed to keeping you informed of our progress so you can see what your generosity has accomplished. Whether it is a maintenance project or pastoral initiatives such as Youth Ministry or Adult Formation that we are planning to jump start, you will be reported how your giving will have a real impact on our parish life. 

How You Can Help 

I invite every household to prayerfully consider how it can take part. If each family can donate at least $300 for this annual appeal, it would help me tremendously to start some of these projects with confidence and prepare for the winter cost.  Many of you will be able to give much more while others will need to donate less because of rising costs of everything. I know this gift is a real sacrifice for many.  No matter the amount, I am deeply grateful for every donation in any form.  For some, that means continuing your faithful weekly offertory. For others, it may mean increasing that support or making a special gift to this appeal. Every gift, whatever its size, makes a difference. 

Many of you already give online, and I am grateful. Online giving provides steady, dependable support for the daily operation of our parishes, whether or not you are able to be at Mass with us. To build a more stable offertory, we need more households to join in. If you have not yet signed up, please consider a recurring weekly or monthly gift. Even a modest, steady gift helps us plan with confidence. 

I pledge my prayers and my commitment to responsible stewardship. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do. With God’s grace, we will care for the gifts entrusted to us and hand on strong, welcoming home to generations to come.
